We had some lofty goals—to change the world by building on common interests. And although we are closing Simler today, we’d still like to believe that we made a positive impact on some of your lives. We know that some of you met new people that seemed like long lost friends on our service, because we did too. So on an individual level, we did do precisely what we set out to do, simply manifested in a different way.

We thank each one of you for your support over the last year. We have drawn encouragement and inspiration from many of you, and look forward to continuing to cultivate these relationships in other ways. So please keep in touch with at least one of the endless ways that we have available to us in this modern age!

Ryan “MrG” Goodwin and the rest of the Simler team

Simler hearts Facebook

The day has finally come, you can now link your Facebook profile with your Simler account. When you do, Simler pulls your profile information to suggest tags that you have already said you like. It then finds your Facebook friends on Simler so you can quickly find out what you have in common with your friends. Here’s how:

1) Simply login to your Simler account.

2) Click on the “Find Facebook Friends link” on the homepage.

3) Follow the screen prompts, and invite your friends!

It’s never been so easy to find both tags and friends. So when you invite your friends to Simler via your Facebook wall, they are only a few clicks away from comparing the tags they have in common with you. Login right now and give it a whirl!

Ryan Goodwin is presenting at LaunchUp #6

LaunchUp is rocking it’s sixth event next week, and Simler is gonna be representing it right. What is LaunchUp you might ask? It’s a community event for tech entrepreneurs to share their ideas and to get help from the community.

The format is fairly simple. Three companies get seven minutes to present themselves to the community, with a few minutes of QA following. I went to the last event in February and it was a lot of fun. There were about 70 people, with just about every chair filled. Theirs grub after, and networking a plenty.

http://launchup.org

So if you are in Utah on Wednesday March 10th, head over to Thanksgiving Point at 6:30pm to come see me speak about Simler. Then grab a bite and come chat it up after!

Social Networking Iconography by Rogie King

Throughout our site we use an iconography set designed by a very talented designer: Rogie King. They almost feel like he had Simler in mind when he designed them! He’s got some mad skills, so be sure to check out the rest of his work here.

After weeding through hundreds of applicants, the best of the best were selected to participate in the program under the Social Media (Personal) category. We’re honored to be able to rub elbows with some other movers and shakers in the industry.

If you’re at SXSW this year, you better make yourself known. If you don’t, you may hurt the monkeys feelings… And you DON’T want that.

MrG on Simler: The tidal wave of "friendly" spam

MrG on Simler: The tidal wave of "friendly" spam:

As social media becomes a larger facet of our everyday lives, the signal is beginning to drown in unprecedented amounts of noise. Now I get notified when a friend of mine confirms a friend on Facebook. Or that a business associate just ate a peanut butter sandwich on Twitter. None of which I care…
